Magnificent 7 for Revo at Red Dot Awards 2015

Okt 2, 2015

We are delighted to announce another success in the annual Red Dot Product Design Awards, this time for our new SuperSystem digital music system. This coveted international award honours the very best in industrial design and sets the benchmark by which we judge the quality of our design work.

SuperSystem is a thoroughly modern music system, combining traditional values of craftsmanship and material integrity with next-generation all-digital technology, superlative room-filling acoustic performance and timeless industrial design.

This is especially reflected in the percentage of successful entries in the Red Dot Award, which is much smaller in contrast to other international design competitions.

This latest award is our seventh Red Dot success, following in the footsteps of our SuperConnect, Heritage, K2, AXiS, Pico and Blok products.

With 4,928 submissions from 56 countries, the Red Dot Product Design Award is the largest and most renowned design competition in the world. Each year an international jury reviews and evaluates the submitted products according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality and quality. The group of jurors is made up of renowned designers and design experts from around the world.

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, on the decision process in the Red Dot Award: “The 40 experts assessed the quality of the entries with the utmost care and attention. Due to their backgrounds, they also assessed the special cultural aspects of the designs from 53 countries. But only the best products receive an award from the jury. This is especially reflected in the percentage of successful entries in the Red Dot Award, which is much smaller in contrast to other international design competitions. Therefore, the winners can be proud of their achievements – with their entries, they stood out from the rest and were able to pass the test in front of the critical eyes of the experts. This success will be perceptible during the Red Dot Gala, when the laureates will receive the recognition of the international audience.”

The Red Dot award is a seal of quality; it stands for membership of the best in design and business. The winners receive their awards in person at a gala ceremony in the Essen Opera House, Essen, Germany – where more than 1,200 international guests from the fields of design, the arts, business and politics will gather. SuperSystem then joins other winning products in the “Design On Stage” exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. The Red Dot Design is a very special museum. Around 2,000 exhibits from over 40 countries are on view, and most of them can also be touched and tested. This means that the museum not only houses the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design, it is also a one-of-a-kind design exploratorium. The uniqueness of the museum’s atmosphere is created by the ever-present contrast between the old and the new, as the Red Dot Design Museum Essen is based in what was formerly the boiler house of the UNESCO world heritage site of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex. British architect Lord Norman Foster redesigned the space for use as a museum.
